WISDOM – for those who asked me about this (and perhaps even more for those who didn’t, too 😄) after my latest plant-wisdom video, here are some of my favourite books for developing a more resilient mind.. and some thoughts to ponder.
Why? Because, one of the best (and a bit counter-intuitive, I know) ways I’ve found to hone your intuition/inner wisdom is to – yes, listen to your intuition..
But ALSO to find ways to expand (and clear) your mind, sharpen your skill of critical thinking, gather facts – not fears, study history (or um.. what is left of it) and learn as much as you can (while you still can) about various topics that interest you.
This will, in combination with ‘listening in’ to a regulated body/nervous system help to sharpen your discernment.
(regulate it as best you can – by giving yourself sleep, rest, silence, movement, gentleness, good-for-you foods, safe company, books, art, music, and time in nature to offset the screaming-for-your-attention screens..)
a little bit of any of these already goes a long way
Discernment is becoming more and more crucial in times of dis/misinformation and (conscious and unconscious) half-truths.
Training your ability to focus (through meditation, crafts, learning something or joyous acts of expression/creation/practice) is a big part of this puzzle as well.
Reclaim your attention. Use it wisely.
As for history, and any books for that matter.. be sure to do treat what you find with a healthy dose of ‘reading between the lines‘ (har)
Always bear in mind who wrote what, and when, with which intention(s), from which point of view and under what kind of circumstances.. especially when it comes to stories of indigenous cultures, which have a history(ha) of being silenced/erased and/or distorted by the occupying forces.
There’s treasures of wisdom and truth to be found there. Your body will know when it resonates.
There is so much that we still do not know, and/or have forgotten throughout time.
So.. We can at least do our best to expand our knowledge in this lifetime, find out/rediscover what is true, from within and without, turn lessons learnt into wisdom, and pass it on so as to have MORE, NOT LESS of it in future generations.
